Press conference

“Work hard, be consistent and believe 100 percent”

Genaro Rodríguez held a press conference in the Club’s ‘Juan Cortés’ press room. “I’m pretty convinced, and I’m not just saying it, that we can beat Tenerife,” he said.

The Sevilla-born player says the team is “motivated and focused on the details the coach has been going over this week. We believe and think that (Tenerife) is a fairly winnable match, we want to get the three points and bring them back to Málaga”.

“There’s a degree of tension due to the situation, that’s the reality, but the team is super motivated. We’ve worked on the small mistakes we made against Oviedo, the lack of arrival, and we’re focused on how we can damage Tenerife and earn the three points to move away from the drop zone,” continued the number ‘16’.

Genaro considers that the “Second Division is tough, and the rival also plays their game and makes things difficult for you. Work hard, be consistent and believe 100 percent. We need to focus on playing our game and do things right as we’ve been working on.”

The message from the Blue and White pivot is that “the mentality is the same and the team is determined to get out of this situation. Working hard is the only thing to do. I’m pretty convinced, and I’m not just saying it, that we can beat Tenerife – and any other team. Nobody expected the result the other day at the Zorilla stadium when Sanse won, so we have to go to Tenerife to win,” he added.

“Playing at home or away has to be the same. Focus on each match like a final and think that this is the week the League competition will end and so we need to win. And give our all to do it,” he said.
