Women’s team claims a point to keep believing (1-1)

Ode’s goal in minute 45 led to a point for the Blue and Whites in a match where the Malagueñas deserved a little more.

Málaga CF Femenino drew 1-1 against RCD Espanyol Femenino on Liga Iberdrola matchday 20. Ode Fulutudilu made her scoring debut in the 45th minute, which served to claim an away point.

Equality was the dominant tone in the first half. Both sides disputed possession of the ball in midfield, with the best chance to open the scoring coming from the Malagueñas in minute 12. Ruth flew with the ball to the edge of María José’s goal area, passed the ball to Ode, but the South African’s shot grazed the crossbar. The duel between both teams continued until minute 39 when the rival went ahead by taking advantage of a mistake by the Málaga defence. Del Estal converted the 1-0, with the scoreboard staying the same at half-time.

Espanyol’s lead only lasted 15 minutes as no sooner had the second half got underway, Ode scored the equaliser. The striker headed a ball positioned by Dominika. The Slovenian had received the ball thanks to a magnificent pass from Míriam, who stood out during play for her precision in midfield. After going level, Contreras’ girls accumulated chances and Cazalla’s defence in aerial play kept the rival at bay. Despite the attempts by Adriana – who joined the match in substitution of Ode – and Leti, who came close to another Olympic goal, the final result was all square, although the visitors deserved more.
