Winning debut at La Rosaleda against Alcorcón (1-0)

A goal from Cristian Rodríguez just before half-time sealed the first home win of the season.

The Blue and Whites hosted AD Alcorcón in the first home match of the season, on matchday 3. This team was the last rival to visit La Rosaleda, on 17th July, when Pellicer’s men secured their place in the division.

It was a very close match from the outset, with both sides disputing possession without conceding any opportunities to the rival. The best chance for the visitors in the first half was a shot from in front of the area from Arribas in 34’, that was cleared by Dani Barrio. Just before the half-time whistle, in minute 43, the only goal of the game arrived, the work of Cristian Rodríguez, who finished with a great deal of class from the edge of the area a great Matos cross from the left.

In the second half, midfielder Jozabed made his debut wearing the Blue and White jersey, joining play in minute 65 in place of Orlando. He also had a chance to score in 74’, just after Dani Barrio saved a free kick launched by Samuel Sosa. In 84’, the match went further in favour of the Malaguistas, with the expulsion of ‘Alfarero’ pivot Boateng after his second yellow card.

With this victory, Málaga CF have obtained six points from the first three matches of the season. Up next the lads are away from home on Saturday 3rd October at 21:00 against Rayo Vallecano.
