Willy: "We’ll be looking to gain our first points in the game against Celta"

Málaga CF’s goalkeeper, Willy Caballero, held a press conference on day two of the pre-season stage at Campoamor, Alicante.

Statements
(League draw – Celta is the first rival, Barça the last) "It’s good to play our first match against a team who played well in the Second Division, and we’ll be looking to gain our first points from this game.  The last match against Barcelona will also be a great one for us, as well as the fans.”

(Pre-season) "We’ve all got pre-season matches ahead, and know how hard they can be.  It’s tough fighting pain and fatigue, and trying to get into the right frame of mind.  We’re all training well on great pitches, though it’s always difficult during the first few days.  We’re continuing to improve in each training session, and get better with the ball, though we’re finding it hard at the moment.”

(Injury) "I’m fighting fit, and training as normal.  I thank God that I’ve recovered from the injury, and I hope I don’t get any more scares like that.  I was in recovery for two months, and during the holidays too, but now I’m giving it my all and doing the best I can.”

(Three competitions) "This is all new for some players, including me, and we really hope to play in all three.  Some of our team mates are used to playing with other teams, but we’ll soon get used to it and have the chance to play every two or three days.  We all need to ensure we’re match-ready.”

(Starting 11) "It’s always difficult, especially when you think your place is secure.  Whenever you seem sure of something, that’s when things can go wrong.  I think it’s important to think like an amateur player, really fight for your place 100 per cent, and then the coach will decide who will be in goal.”
