On arrival in Bilbao, the MCF Foundation team played the first of two matches on Saturday that make up Phase 3 of the competition, held at Ciudad Deportiva de Lezama, hosted by Athletic Club Fundazioa, to end the current LaLiga Genuine season.
At 10:30, our Supercapacitad@s played against Fundació Fútbol Base Reus (the team from Catalonia won by 0-2), on pitch 2 in Lezama. Following the match, the big surprise of the day arrived. Carles Puyol, LaLiga ambassador and Spanish football legend, warmly greeted all the members of our team.
Puyol’s former team, FC Barcelona and the Fundació Barça was Málaga’s next ‘rival’ at 16:00 on pitch 5 in Lezama. The match ended with the same result as before for the Malaguistas (2-0 to Barça). After the game, the Blue and Whites visited the spectacular San Mamés stadium.
Málaga Genuine’s main aim, in such a special competition bringing together 42 teams this weekend in three groups (Respeto, Deportividad and Compañerismo), is to be as high as possible in the COMPAÑERISMO Group. MCF are currently in 10th place with 15 points, and hope to climb up the rankings.
Málaga CF’s last match in the #BilbaoPhase will take place on Sunday on pitch 6 in Lezama against Villarreal CF (09:00).
