With regards to the Club’s future, Ghubn is committed to finding a balance between the sporting and financial aspects: “In terms of the sporting and economic environment, the future will be much more important than the Club’s recent past. When we refer to the investment we’ve made into this outfit, we’re not just talking about the monetary value, but about having a system, structure and professional management of the sporting side of things, as well as choosing the right people to manage the day-to-day running of the Club etc. We’re now focusing on making the necessary adjustments to adapt to the required laws and regulations. The rules are changing and evolving all the time, whether it be in the League or UEFA, but our aim is to remain in the position we want to be in,” explains the ‘Malaguista’ Vice-President.
The future is underpinned by a very important season. According to Abdullah Ghubn: “Thanks to the amazing work the team did last season, we are able to make the promise to keep working as hard as possible to become the biggest Club we can be, and remain in the top part of the table. I’m not talking about a plan for just one season, but a long-term strategy, which we promise you’ll enjoy!” The Vice-President stresses the importance of complying with current regulations: “When we decided to invest in this Club, we were determined to create a great Club, and to be as big as possible. This has always been our main objective, however certain things have had to change along the way due to rules and regulations. We’re focusing on continuing with our project of creating the biggest Club we can, and always adapting to the necessary laws. This is the main reason why we’ve had to alter our position, but although it was tough, we feel much more comfortable with the situation now.”
Looking at the sanction imposed on Málaga CF by UEFA, Ghubn states: “We want to have a good relationship with them, but we don’t want to be the Club that was made an example of. If my message isn’t quite clear, then we’ll be submitting a detailed explanation to UEFA, analysing the reasons why we believe the decision was unfair, and I don’t think it’ll be us that’ll be feeling guilty.”
“We’d love to purchase the stadium,” affirms Ghubn when asked of the Club’s intention to buy La Rosaleda.
With regards to the various authorities, the Vice-President adds: “We’re confident that Málaga City Hall and the Junta de Andalucía will support us. I hope everything gets resolved as soon as possible, although we’ll have to wait a bit longer. We’re definitely heading in the right direction ahead of the start of the season,” concludes Abdullah Ghubn.
