Sergio Sánchez: “It’s difficult, but our rivals are going through the same thing”
Málaga CF’s Sergio Sánchez analyses the pre-season so far in Bitburg (Germany) and the BBVA League match schedule and Málaga CF’s first three rivals; Valencia CF, FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC.
The Blue and Whites’ defender speaks about the League timetable: “The start of the season is always difficult, but then again, other teams must think the same when they see they’re up against Málaga. We’re determined to get off to a great start, carry on as we have been doing and play a good first League match. At some point in the season, everyone comes up against the major teams, so let’s give them something to think about,” adds Sánchez.
During the second day of pre-season training in Germany, Sánchez states: “It’s very hard, intense work, but we’re all feeling good and have adapted quickly to our new coaching team. Their philosophy is much the same as we’ve been used to. Everyone is really pleased with how everything’s going so far, and really keen to continue working hard and make the coach happy. The setting is ideal for pre-season training, the weather’s great, we’re sleeping well, the food is excellent and the grounds are in perfect condition. We’re focused on what we’ve come here to do, work as hard as we can and prepare for the start of the season. We couldn’t have come to a better place.”
With regards to next season, the Blue and Whites’ defender confirms: “The team’s priorities are still to go as far as possible; our ambition is to achieve and exceed our success from previous years. The coaching team is extremely motivated as well as us, but we’ve still got the pre-season nerves, which is normal,” concludes Sánchez.
