Málaga CF’s Chilean-born Pedro Morales held this morning’s press conference, ahead of Bernd Schuster’s team’s third day of pre-season training in Bitburg, Germany.
For the Blue and Whites’ midfielder: “We’ve all adapted quickly to how the new coach works, particularly with regards to physical preparation. I’m really pleased as training is focused predominantly with ball work, which is very different from just running around the pitch. We’re all really motivated and returning to match fitness. From a personal point of view I’m feeling good, hoping to perform well during the pre-season and be 100 per cent ready for the start of the League competition.”
Morales highlights his personal ambition: “I’m training as hard as I can and am really keen to get started on this new project and be an important part of the team. Following the injury problems I had last season, I’m feeling much better now. I hope to have the chance to play a lot more football this season, see an end to the physical problems and have a permanent place in the starting-11.”
“Following the BBVA League schedule, and Málaga CF’s first three matches against Valencia CF, FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC, Morales comments: “They’ll be tough matches, but we’ll be ready. We’re training hard every day and have got a lot of friendly games ahead…Our aim is to be at optimum fitness ahead of the start of the League season, as we come up against very difficult rivals. We’re all working well and new signings will help us a lot too. It’s just a case of maintaining our focus and training hard ahead of these games.”
With regards to the pre-season in Bitburg, at the Sportschule complex: “It’s really great here in Germany. The weather is perfect, beautiful accommodation, we’ve all got our own rooms which helps us to relax more, the food is great too…It really is the ideal place for pre-season training for a couple of weeks.”
