“We’re here to enjoy the ride”

Málaga CF’s latest two signings, Álvaro Vadillo and Aleix Febas, have been officially presented at the Club’s ‘Juan Cortés’ press room.

Sporting director Manolo Gaspar said to both: “Welcome and thank you for facilitating these signings. I wish you both a lot of luck both personally and collectively.”

Similarly, Vadillo showed his gratitude to the Club and “also to Rufete and RCD Espanyol. I haven’t been competing, the last 18 months have been difficult, but I felt good in my debut, like I had adapted.” Febas analysed his debut against Sporting positively, “a little bittersweet as we didn’t win, but it was good. My teammates and the coach made things very easy. I’m happy.”

Aleix and Álvaro were clear they wanted to be in Málaga: “Manolo showed interest in me, I liked the idea. I wanted to get out as I wasn’t having continuity, and we decided with my people that coming here was the best option,” said the former Mallorca player. “I was very clear. If I was being loaned out in the Second Division, I’d come to Málaga. My best performance has always been in Andalucía,” said the ex-Espanyol player.

The winger from Puerto Real considers himself “young, yet experienced. I’ve had a 10-year career, have experience in the division and within the dressing room. All those years and matches in the Second Division could be a plus. Málaga have a young squad, full of enthusiasm and ambition, and my experience could help.”

The Lleida-born midfielder also arrived “with great enthusiasm, which I hope to bring to the dressing room. Enthusiasm, ambition, hard work and contributing all I can and what the coach asks of me. There’s a good team. The Second Division is very tough, every match is extremely difficult, decided by the smallest details, but I see a good team.”

Both Vadillo and Febas said they wanted to “enjoy the ride,” without setting out a particular objective. They also praised the fans: “Andalucían fans are so passionate, and demanding, I was delighted with the reception,” said Vadillo. “I suffered La Rosaleda as a rival, these fans are incredible,” added Febas.

The new number ‘14’ feels “this is a good time for me, on a personal and physical level. I want to have six good months in Málaga.” The number ‘18’ considers that “if I’m good physically, it’s a great moment to boost my quality and help Málaga.”

With these two arrivals, Manolo Gaspar sees “a fairly balanced team, that's what we believe from the analysis, with versatile players. We’re looking at the market calmly, we’re not closing the door on anything, so let’s see what happens. We’re not being hasty.”

Finally, Vadillo defined himself as “a cheerful, daring player, eager to have the ball and skilful at dribbling.” Whilst Febas, is “a dynamic player, who likes to be in contact with the ball and is hard-working.”

Good luck lads! Welcome!
