Grateful

“It’s exciting, we’re very much looking forward to it. For any coach, particularly with the journey I’ve had, getting here, as well as being motivating and exciting, comes with great responsibility. I’m certain that I will enjoy this experience a great deal. I’m grateful to the sports management for their trust in me and the important thing now is to repay that trust with hard work”.

Career

“I started in Granada, in Loja, where I’m from, as second coach in the Third Division. I spent a long time there, four or five years straight, and seven alternating between different projects. We moved up to Segunda B, I had another project in Guijuelo, Salamanca, also in Segunda B, which was very exciting and a wonderful experience. I had a short spell at Vélez and then went to El Palo, where I enjoyed unique experiences. When I had the opportunity to come to Málaga I didn’t think twice. The effort and hard work you put in allows you to enjoy coaching every day, which I believe I’ll do here”.

Bravo, his right-hand man

“As soon as I found out the opportunity of having Bravo with me, I was delighted as he was a player at the Club and knows it well. He’s been working within the División de Honor, he has experience of the category and we’re going to make the perfect tandem”.

Objectives

“The perspective you have is to help the reserve team players be on the best possible form for when they move up to the first team, they can perform at the best level possible. This has to be our goal, there’s a lot of talent on the team, not just about doing well in the category but also getting into the habit of winning will make them compete better when they move up. Being a dominant team in the division has to be an important reference”.

Return

“This is my third time here, the second as coach. I’m delighted to be back, proud and excited to get to work. Very happy”.

Funes

“We’re both excited about the project. When they told me about the possibility of working with Funes I didn’t hesitate as I know him well as a coach and we agree on our ideas of football. We’re going to form a good working group and are both looking forward to it”.

Training

“We know what the Club’s requirement is in that regard, and our work is about getting the best performance out of the players and training them in the best possible way for when the first team need them”.

Third Division; strong and brilliant

“It’s going to be a tough year, but also a great one. The fact that it’s hard will be good for the lads, they’ll compete at a much higher level. All the teams are being reinforced well, there are many Málaga teams and a lot of competition. It’s great to be able to enjoy a close competition that’s both tough and demanding”.
