Malagueño’s rivals in the Segunda Federación

The official distribution of the five groups in the fourth tier of Spanish football has now been confirmed. Atlético Malagueño, Málaga Club de Fútbol’s reserve team, will compete in this division in the upcoming season.

Atlético Malagueño will play in the Segunda Federación next season (2025/26), after earning direct promotion as champions of Group IX in the Tercera Federación during the 2024/25 campaign.

Group 4 of the competition will no longer include Juventud de Torremolinos, the Málaga-based team that has been promoted to the Primera Federación. However, four teams that took part in the promotion playoffs will remain in the group: La Unión Atlético, UCAM Murcia, Antoniano, and another Málaga club, Estepona.

Also remaining in the group for another season are UD Almería ‘B’, Xerez CD, Águilas CF, Linares Deportivo, Deportiva Minera, and Xerez Deportivo.

The group is completed by eight more teams: Atlético Malagueño and Real Jaén CF, both promoted from Group IX of the Tercera Federación; Salerm Puente Genil FC from Córdoba, champions of Group X; and Lorca Deportiva, promoted from the Murcia region. Joining them are the oldest football club in Spain, RC Recreativo de Huelva, and Yeclano Deportivo, both relegated from the higher tier; along with two additional teams, CD Extremadura and Melilla.

Malagueño’s group features 10 teams from Andalucía, six from the Region of Murcia, one from Extremadura, and one from Melilla, making a total of 18 teams.

Funes and Bravo’s team will take on the challenge of competing in a higher division and will find out their league fixture schedule on Tuesday 1st July.
