“We’ll do things with heart”

Rafa Gil spoke to MCFTV at La Rosaleda as new director of The Academy. “It’s a challenge to be able to head up the magnificent youth ranks we have”, he said.

Back home

“After six years out, this for me is a challenge and something very exciting in my life, above all because I’m from here. I started out training with the Alevín ‘C’, I trained in all categories here and I feel very identified with the Club. It’s a great challenge for me and an opportunity to head up the magnificent youth ranks we have”.

Hard work and heart

“We are meeting with all the coaches, we’ll soon have all the coaching teams finalised and at full capacity. We’ll try to do things with heart and as best we can to ensure the players reach the first team, which is our challenge at The Academy”.

Reserve team

“I was in the reserve team for three years and have always been a born follower of the team when I’ve been away. It’s an extra motivation to have players who can now make the shorter leap from Second B to Second Division. It’s extremely exciting to have the reserve team in Second B this season”.

Sports city

“It’s our dream - all of us who are from Málaga and Malaguistas and who previously worked within the youth ranks - to see the sports city operating at full capacity. It’s the something extra the Club needed following this immense growth over the past few years (…) Now it’s a reality, and thanks to the owner, who is trying hard for the project to be ready next year, it’s becoming a reality and will be amazing for all the young players”.
