Weligton: “The next five or six games are key”

Málaga CF’s Brazilian defender, Weligton, spoke to the media today, Saturday, at a press conference in the Ciudad de Málaga stadium press room.

Weligton’s statements:

A long and productive week
“A bit of a special week after getting the win, and with another day to prepare for the Granada match, it’s been very productive.  I reckon the next five or six matches are key for all teams as they’re going to be fighting; the differences are very minimal and it’s going to be important to do well in these next few games.”

Physically, OK
“There’s been a little bit of caution on the physical side.  I’m now feeling much better; yesterday I did a good part of the work with the team and I think I’ll be training at a normal level today.”

Granada-Málaga
“We know that they’ve got some good players, they’re a squad that’s looking to stay in the First Division.  They’re playing at home with a new manager who’s motivating the team and it’s going to be a very difficult match.  Everyone sets out their own objective, of being as high-up as possible, but we know that we have to win the next match.  It’s close, we have to be focused and we know the importance of getting the win.  The cold? They’ll be more used to it because they live there, but we have to just forget about this small detail.  The determination and desire of every one of us will allow us to overcome this small obstacle and do the best we can.  It’s an important game, they’re three points, we’ve got to know what we want and go out looking for it.”

Match on Monday
“It’s difficult to disconnect 100 per cent, we’re focused and we’re always looking at other teams, it’s normal to look at the table and other results and see where we could be if we win – I, particularly, like looking.”

Goal against Sevilla
“I have an aim to score 10 goals this season (laughs).  I was very happy for being in the starting eleven again, to get back to acquiring minutes in the League, and thank God for having had the gift of a goal.  I hope to keep on working hard so that when the coach counts on me I perform at a high level.”
