Press conference

“We want to keep the distance and move closer to the objective”

Sergio Pellicer held a remote press conference this morning at La Rosaleda before heading to Lugo. “We’ll be up against an aggressive, alert team”, he said.

Update

“In principle, we’re all fine with the exception of Josua and the players who aren’t 100 per cent. We’ve reached the definitive part of the season now. We’re going to find ourselves facing a rival that, despite not being in a positive dynamic, have won 25 points at home. We’ve come from an unwanted result and will try to correct the mistakes and continue competing in the same dynamic we’ve shown in recent weeks. This rival will regain players and will be extremely difficult. However, I see a strong team for this definitive stage”.

Collective

“Every match has a different context. We always have three advantages and we need to try and seal the fate of the game. The substitutions at half-time, right now, are the result of a circumstantial issue of the last two games. They understand perfectly, the player has to be ready, and the group is very healthy. We’re very transparent, we all make mistakes, and we always stick together. Beyond the individual, the group comes first”.

Correct mistakes

“There were two mistakes that really penalised us. Our pattern is to get the ball to the rival half, in various ways, and they are decision makers. The rival penalised us. We always try to keep the pressure on and maintain possession. We worked on several different ideas, which the players know about. Errors will happen, we’ve analysed it, and are aware that both teams will make mistakes. The analysis is based on the result, and tomorrow we’ll know the importance of the match”.

Scepovic

“I see Stefan getting better all the time. He’s taking part little by little and could possibly be in the starting line-up during this stage, even tomorrow. He’s helping us and needs to keep improving. With the forwards, wingers and players on the second line we must improve the precision as those who are forceful in the areas are the ones who win in football”.

Final stage and Lugo

“There are 10 matches remaining, 30 points at stake. What we want is to keep winning games to keep the excitement alive and achieve the objective as soon as possible. The moment of truth is coming, we’re in a position where we can be calm, but with our eyes open and with huge ambition. There’s so much at stake, in this last stage we want more. Lugo have had a change of coach and have gone through such a lot in recent games. These are very specific moments and emotions, but we need to get in the heads of others. We’ll face a team that, in their last match against Las Palmas, means nothing to us. We’ll be up against an aggressive, alert team. We want to win the three points to keep the distance, be ambitious and stay super excited”.
