Pepe Mel held a press conference at the Carlos Tartiere following the 1-0 defeat in Oviedo. “The team does things well, but the players have no reward, the coach stated.
"The analysis is very simple. A penalty, and although I have a bad memory, I don't remember a lot else about Oviedo. We tried every which way, luck also played a part and today it went in favour of Oviedo. The rival won, and they didn't deserve it. And we have zero points which we also don’t deserve. But this is all about scoring a goal,” said Mel.
The Blue and White coach insisted that “we had two very clear opportunities to get on the scoreboard and, usually, one should have gone in. We remain in the drop zone after yet another match, so we need to do more,” added Pepe Mel who believes that “we have to face the situation head on, all the matches are crucial for us.”
“I’m concerned that the team does things well, but the players have no reward. We didn’t deserve to lose today. We lost in Leganés due to a mistake, as we did here. With a penalty like that you can’t do anything,” concluded the coach.
