Training session in the Athletics Stadium

Málaga CF players returned to training this morning in the Ciudad de Málaga Athletics Stadium, the second session of the week. Ignacio Camacho held a press conference today.

The team is now focused on Saturday’s League match against Osasuna, and training today consisted of continuous running, stretching, rounds, various physical exercises, goal shooting practice, possession exercises and a practice match.  Reserve players, Pol, Jurado, Álex Portillo and Diego were in training today, whilst Isco, Iturra and Fabrice were absent on international duty.  Weligton worked in the gym and on the pitch this morning with physical trainer Enrique Ruiz, following the sprain to his right quadriceps muscle.  Sergio Sánchez retired from the practice match early through injury, and is awaiting tests.

Monreal, who is recovering well from his back pain, has travelled to Munich for three days to continue his treatment with Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt, part of Bayern Munich’s medical team.

The team is back in training tomorrow, Thursday, at the Athletics Stadium at 10:30 a.m.

Statements by Camacho

“Looking at the last two home games, we should have won the three points from each match.  It just shows that anything can happen in Spanish football, and any team can win, particularly if the rival isn’t performing as well as in previous games.  We’re all very positive and motivated for the match in Pamplona, and are determined to come home with three very important points.”

“It’s tough for the team, particularly following the Champions League matches, but it’s certainly not a lack of commitment from the players.  We’re now completely focused on fixing our mistakes and improving our performance.  We’ve got a crucial match coming up on Saturday, and if we can come away with the three points, it’ll make our last two home defeats more bearable.”

“The fans are so important to the team, not just when things are going well, but their support is invaluable during the tough times too.  We’re all united; the Club, the players and the fans, which has been amazing during difficult times.”
