Málaga CF players were back in training this morning in the Ciudad de Málaga Athletics Stadium, the penultimate session of the week ahead of Saturday’s League match against Osasuna. Defender, Weligton, held a pre-training press conference.
Today’s training consisted of continuous running, stretching, rounds, various physical exercises, goal shooting practice and mini-matches. Those on international duty, Isco, Iturra and Fabrice remain absent, and Weligton had a less intense session on the pitch under the instruction of physical trainer, Enrique Ruiz. Sergio Sánchez is still recovering from a right hamstring injury pending further tests, and exercised in the gym today, whilst Monreal continues his recovery in Germany. Reserve players, Pol, Jurado, Álex Portillo and Diego were in training today with the first team.
The boys are back to work tomorrow morning at 10:30 at the Athletics Stadium.
Statements by Weligton
“There was some swelling, though luckily we didn’t have a match midweek so I had time to recover. I feel much better now and will get back to training today, and hope to rejoin the rest of the group in normal training tomorrow.”
“I think if there is a chance of a fracture or a break then it’s better to be out for one match, rather than four or five weeks.”
“We all know how important the forthcoming matches are. We want to get back up to the top part of the League table, so Saturday’s match is crucial for us to come home with three points. We’re completely focused on this next League game and determined to win following the last two home defeats.”
