Tough defeat for Malagueño against Segoviana (4-0)

Manel Ruano’s boys hit a brick wall in their visit to Segovia, and didn’t manage to take advantage of the 1-0 result from the first leg. The reserve team will now have to pass two more ties to reach Second Division B.

There was a great atmosphere at La Albuera Municipal Stadium to determine which of the two rivals would win promotion to Second Division B. Gimnástica Segoviana came out raring to go. Proof of this was an early goal by Ayrton (6’). The Malaguistas weren’t shaken though. As minutes went by, they began to take control of play and made several dangerous approaches. En-Nesyri had two very promising chances. The first, a shot from in front of the target that resulted in a corner. Three minutes later, the Malaguista striker gained possession of the ball inside the area, gave his all but his shot was repelled by a rival defender. As the danger generated by Manel Ruano’s team stepped up, Segoviana scored their second goal. Domingo launched the ball to the post from a corner kick to put the locals further in front (33’). Mula had the last chance of the first half, with a shot from the edge of the area that went high.

The second half kicked off with no changes for either side. En-Nesyri came close to converting a strong pass from Javi Jiménez, but the Segoviana keeper arrived before the ball. Ruano made the decision to bring on Kuki Zalazar and David Ramos, in substitution of Harper and Arturo. In minute 55, there was again another opportunity for Atlético Malagueño to get on the scoreboard. A great run from Ontiveros and a tight shot missed out on the target by very little. From a more than dubious free kick came the third goal for the rival. It was again Domingo, this time with a header (61’) who beat goalkeeper, Aarón. Following the third local goal, the Blue and Whites’ reserve team coach brought on Wojicik in place of Iván Rodríguez. With seven minutes remaining, the home side scored their fourth goal of the match. Rubén was unmarked in front of Aarón and propelled a low shot into the back of the net (83’). Mula and Luis Muñoz were shown the red card in minute 88 after a brawl near the benches. The dream of Second Division B promotion will have to wait for another two eliminations.
