Women’s reserve team, champions of the Copa Federación

The Blue and Whites defeated CD Rincón Femenino by 4 goals to 0, to win the provincial Cup title.

The final of the Copa Federación, which took place on Sunday 28th May at 19:00 at the Federación Malagueña, was a perfect day for the Málaga CF Femenino reserve team. The Blue and Whites won the Cup title after defeating the Red and Whites of CD Rincón Femenino by 4-0, in a match dedicated to Blue and Whites’ team captain, Yoli, who is suffering with a cruciate injury.

Straight after kick-off, Noelia’s girls launched their attack and piled pressure on the rival. This led to the first two goals of the match in minutes 12 and 14, both thanks to the team’s highest scorer, María Ruiz, who adds another two goals to her stats. As time went by, the Blue and Whites’ attack continued and CD Rincón were blocked by the Málaga defence. At half-time the Blue and Whites had a 0-2 lead.

In the second half, the women’s reserve team rearmed by making several substitutions. The Blue and Whites’ defence represented a brick wall for the Red and Whites, and an impressive save by María in goal prevented a penalty in the 46th minute of play. Málaga went all out on the attack, and in 51’, Lorena propelled an unstoppable ball from a free kick that fired into the back of the net to make it 0-3. The entrance of Raquel in minute 54 was more good news for the Malaguistas. Barely a minute on the pitch was enough for her to make a cross with the ball inside the area and seal the 0-4, which was the final result of the match.

With this 0-4 win, the Málaga CF Femenino reserve team are champions of the Copa Federación. A tournament which saw them defeat rivals including CD El Palo, AD Pablo Picasso and, lastly, CD Rincón Femenino.

Congratulations, champions!
