Torres: “We’ve got a League break, but we want to compete now”
Malaguista defender, Miguel Torres held a press conference at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium. “It’s good to have different alternatives to approach the matches.”
League break
“We’ve only played two League games. The break allows us to refine a little what the coach wants of us, knowing what we have to do and being very committed to the team. Our aim was to win the first match and kick off the season in a positive way. Now we’ve got a break, but we want to compete now in our next home game, when I hope we’ll show the good qualities we have.”
Variations in the squad
“New players have arrived who will bring different things to the team, particularly in attack. We must all understand what each game represents. The coach has a lot of experience and variations in the team, we’ve got great strikers and other options. It’s good to have different alternatives to approach the matches.”
Camacho and the market deadline
“He’s shown nothing but professionalism since he joined the Club, and he’s one of our captains. He’s training with us, we see him with great enthusiasm to help us and he’s taken part in all the matches. For the Sheikh’s part, he’s in charge of the Club and reports on the situation when he sees fit. As the market comes to a close, there are always uncertainties, which we can all understand, and at any moment a situation can be resolved or take a dramatic turn. We must be patient, respect the deadlines, and if we can have Camacho as our teammate, all the better, as he’s a key member of the team.”
Personal situation
“I’m 30 years old, the Club deems me important and the coach considers me a headline player. This is why I’ve been selected for the line-up in recent matches. For me, being a headline player isn’t about taking part in games from the beginning, but getting to the end of the season having played 25 matches, which is what I usually do every year. I know very well what I can bring to the team, the coach thought it necessary for me to play the second half in Barcelona, and I tried to do what he asked of me for the team. It’s always great being part of a team that can turn a result around, and we made a good final impression. My desire is to continue working hard so the coach knows what I’m capable of doing.”
