Three decades travelling together

Málaga Club de Fútbol and Autocares Vázquez Olmedo (AVO Group) continue their journey hand in hand. To commemorate the more than 30 years with Málaga CF – over 36 in the sector – for the Malagueño business, there’s a new design for the team bus.

To speak of Vázquez Olmedo is to speak of a family that needs no introduction. Their fleet of buses are recognised for their high levels of punctuality, safety and value for money, leading to countless recommendations for their services.

“We started working with Atlético Malagueño. Federico Beltrán called us up. We had few vehicles at the time, and we have been growing, like Málaga,” recalls Antonio Vázquez Olmedo, administrator of AVO Group. “Then came a golden age with Fernando Puche when we bought a vehicle for the club. Joaquín Peiró was a bus lover, he asked us for several things, a space for injured players, a rest area… He knew a great deal about buses,” Antonio added.

Vázquez Olmedo is a Malagueño business and a passionate Malaguista. “We are all Malaguistas. I remember going to the games as a child, I studied at Martiricos and I escaped to see Viberti, Vilanova, Deusto, Monreal… We have lived it since we were little,” says Antonio. Linked to the Club as a supplier and prominent member of the Málaga Business Club, he transports the Blue and White youth teams up to the Club’s first male and female teams.

Inheriting the legendary ‘Flecha Azul’ that Andrés Perales drove during the club's time as CD Málaga, another iconic member of the Malaguista Family, former player from Marbella, Ángelo, is the regular driver of the customised bus used by Málaga CF for their trips. “You feel part of the squad. Driving the team is something special. Ángelo is part of the family, we have total confidence in him and he knows what this is all about. He drives many kilometres alone throughout Spain,” said Antonio Daniel Vázquez, general manager of AVO Group.

An emblematic coach that has had its own ‘facelift’ this 22/23 season with a modern and sophisticated design. But… who doesn't remember the photo of Vázquez Olmedo's bus driving the team through Málaga in historic moments? Or those incredible receptions from the fans at La Rosaleda with the bus making its way through the crowd to get to the stadium. “The promotion from Segunda B to Segunda was crazy. It was a human tide, you couldn't even walk and the security wasn’t as stringent as it is now. The same from Second to First, with Málaga on the street and the two buses crawling along,” recalls Antonio.

That photo is renewed with the illusion of continuing to travel together, on the road with Vázquez Olmedo!
