Press conference

“There are those who’ll play tomorrow who could earn a place on Sunday”

José Alberto held a press conference at the Federación Malagueña ground, the day before the Cup match against Peña Sport. “We want to get as far as possible in the Cup,” he affirmed.

In regard to the rival, the coach said the following: “This is the match of the year for Peña Sport. They’ve been doing well for a long time. With a Third Division infrastructure, competing in Second B, they’re doing well. They have important grassroots football and everyone in Navarra knows Peña Sport. They are a humble side, but important to Tafalla, so they compete well. For them this will be the match of the year.”

The Asturian coach evaluated yesterday’s Cup round, as “matches resolved in the final minutes, with tight scores. Those games which were decided with bigger results were in the First or Second Division. Those that have been played at local stadiums had tight scores,” he added.

The Málaga coach had a clear opinion about the Cup: “We want to get as far as possible in the Cup, knowing that our main objective is LaLiga, but trying to do our best in the Cup. Our idea is to get through this round, winning the match. Whenever we represent this club, we do so with the determination of winning the three points and getting through as many rounds as we can in the Cup.”

The match in Tafalla could be a good opportunity for those who don’t play as often. “We’ll select a very competitive team focused on tomorrow’s game, which won’t be easy, against a rival with an extra motivation. Those players with fewer minutes need to prove us wrong with tomorrow’s performance. There are those who’ll play tomorrow who could earn a place on Sunday,” he said.
