“The team is fully prepared”

Two Málaga CF captains, Alberto Escassi and Luis Muñoz spoke to the media following the floral offering to the Divina Pastora.

Escassi believes that “the most important thing for a footballer is that injuries respect us, on an individual and collective level, that we have a great season and take Málaga as high as possible, achieving the goal we all want.” Luis, meanwhile, hopes “the Club will reach as high as possible, and we avoid injuries. That's the main thing, and, of course, to have a good year.”

The pre-season has been very rewarding. “We’ve worked so hard, working on the aspects the coach wanted us to focus on. The team is fully prepared to start the League and hopefully we can take the three points from Burgos,” said Escassi. “We’ve been training very well, putting in a lot of effort, morning and afternoon, and I see the team super ready to start the competition and give maximum performance,” added Luis.

“We have such a good team. The Club has made a great financial effort bringing in players of a very high level. It’s time to take a step forward, be ambitious and look at the objective of promotion for everything that Málaga represents. We’re certain we can do it and we’re going to fight for it,” stated the number '23'. The number '8' added: “The Club has made an effort to bring in important players from the category. We’ve formed a very competitive squad, with players who can help in different positions and the boys from the reserve team are going to help a lot. Let's hope it's a great season and we all enjoy it.”

In regard to Burgos, “it’s going to be a very tough match, they have a squad with many players who’ve been there a while as well as a coach who has been there for a number of years. A very difficult team, with very direct football, and we’re going to have to perform at our best to win the three points,” said Alberto, while Luis said the team is “doing great, getting ready for the match in Burgos and we hope we can bring the points home.”
