The perfect season for our Supercapacitad@s School

The MCF Foundation’s Supercapacitad@s Football School celebrated its closing party for the 2021/22 season at El Romeral, with the players, staff, volunteers, families, sponsors and representatives from the Club.

It’s been an unforgettable season for the MCF Foundation’s Supercapacitad@s Football School. This Wednesday 22nd June the 2021/22 season came to an end. The season started in September with the Copa de Andalucía, and the closing fiesta took place at the El Romeral football ground.

The end of season party featured the 73 Supercapacitad@s players, accompanied by their families and friends. Also in attendance were the MCF Foundation sponsors and Club representatives, headed up by judicial administrator and president of the MCF Foundation, José María Muñoz, on a day when all the work carried out by this exemplary group over these nine intense months of activity was recognised. To undertake the busy event schedule, the support of the six MCF Foundation sponsors was essential: Clínicas Rincón Dental, Fundación La Caixa, Sanamar Alimentación, Grupo Limsama, Frigiliana Town Hall and PROAMB.

The closing ceremony kicked off with a speech by MCF Foundation coordinator, Lucas Rodríguez, who reviewed the successful 21/22 season. The Supercapacitad@s Football School is the second largest in Spain, integrated within the Málaga CF structure. The players carried out 72 training sessions and enjoyed unforgettable moments such as hosting the Málaga Phase of LaLiga Genuine Santander at La Rosaleda Stadium in May, the culmination of the Málaga Genuine Week and the lap of honour and an ovation for Málaga Genuine at Martiricos before the league game against Real Sociedad B in November. Not forgetting the Super match at La Rosaleda at the beginning of June and the participation in the ‘Blue and White Values’ campaign along with a player from the first team and Femenino, that the MCF Foundation organises with Fundación La Caixa. This season was a special one, with several schools from all over the province visiting the Malaguista stadium. Another milestone for Málaga Genuine last year was the historic training session they shared with Málaga CF’s first team in December.

Other standout moments from the 21/22 campaign for the Supercapacitad@s Football School were the participation in the PROAMB Environment Workshop between November and June, winning the Fair Play award in the ‘Compañerismo’ Group for 19/20, taking part in the ‘Pulmón Malaguista’ tree-planting initiative in Coín within the #MalaguistasForNature campaign, which also featured the Coca-Cola ‘Mares Circulares’ activity, the ‘Cervantes Blanquiazul’ at the Málaga Carnival and an enjoyable day with Academia 675, amongst many other activities.

The MCF Foundation’s work was recognised with two awards: the gold badge received by FEAFES (Andalusian Federation of Families and People with Mental Health Problems) and the Andalucía + Social 2022 Award for best practice in the care of people with disabilities, granted by the Ministry of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation within the Junta de Andalucía.

The 21/22 season’s closing ceremony continued with the long-awaited medal presentation to the 73 players of the Supercapacitad@s Football School. They were divided into eight groups, one for each of the six MCF Foundation sponsors, another for Mercedes García Paine, delegate for Education and Sports at the Junta de Andalucía and godmother of Málaga Genuine, and the eighth for Málaga CF.

As such, the team members of Grupo Limsama, Frigiliana Town Hall, Fundación La Caixa, Sanamar Alimentación, Clínicas Rincón Dental, Madrina and Málaga CF collected their medals for their great sporting season, but above all, for their values.

Thanks to their good work with their teammates, players Cristóbal Calle and Carlos Fernández went international with Spain, whilst Cristóbal Ramírez and Pablo Sánchez won the bronze medal with the Andalusian team in the Spanish Beach Soccer Championship.

The end of season party for the Supercapacitad@s Football School culminated in a final speech by Lucas Rodríguez, coordinator of the MCF Foundation, and a congratulations from the group to Sebastián Fernández 'Basti', from the MCF Foundation’s Social Department, and Fernando González, Málaga Genuine coach, immortalising the perfect season with a family photo on the pitch at Romeral.

Now it’s time to rest and recharge the batteries to prepare for the 2022/23 season, when our Supercapacitad@s will once again position Málaga CF as a national benchmark club in the normalisation of people with intellectual disabilities.

Honours this year for our Supercapacitad@s school!
