Málaga CF Female

Alicia Fuentes, new MCF Femenino coordinator

The Club incorporates Alicia Fuentes into its women's section, a Club Atlético Málaga icon that won the ‘Treble’, to take over the coordination of Málaga CF Feminino.

Alicia Fuentes Molina (Totalán, Málaga, 1978) reinforces the women’s section, bringing her vast experience and extensive knowledge of women’s football to the Club.

As a player she formed part of Atlético Málaga when the team won the League, Copa de la Reina and Super Cup during the magical 97/98 season. She played four seasons in the golden age of the Blue and Whites (1995-99) and was with the Club on another two occasions (2010-12 and 2013/14).

Recruited by Manolo Hernández Navarrete in her hometown when she was just 15 years old, Alicia extended her career until she was 42, leaving her mark on teams including Levante UD, FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC. In addition, she was an international with Spain on 33 occasions.

A Professional Football Coach – UEFA Pro, she has directed numerous men's and women's grassroots teams. Her most recent experience was with CD Onda Femenino from Castellón, as coach of the Onda Football School during the 21/22 season.

“I’m back home and looking forward to doing my bit for this project. Manolo (Navarrete) recruited me, and he was my football father, the one who educated me in values and with whom we won the 'Treble,'” Alicia told MCFTV. Her objectives are “to work hard, using all the resources and tools at my disposal. I want to value everything the club can do and grow and improve to set strong foundations to get Málaga where it deserves to be. I get goosebumps thinking about it. I made history as a player, and I want to do so again in another way.” In addition, she wants to “provide more resources for this project and for the girls to feel the Málaga colours so that in the future it will be their life and their club.”

Alicia has made football her passion and her lifestyle. She returns home to further promote this part of the club that aspires to keep growing at a competitive level, based on successful youth teams for the future.

Welcome to your #MalaguistaFamily, Ali!
