Juan Francisco Moreno Fuertes (Madrid, 1988) is an experienced player with a long history on the right wing, where he has played as a midfielder, fullback and winger during an extensive professional career with almost 200 matches (197) in the Spanish First Division.
Getafe, Villarreal and Real Madrid youth ranks
When he first started out, he joined the youth ranks of Getafe CF. He made his first team debut in the Copa del Rey at 19 years of age during the 07/08 season, when Laudrup’s team reached the final of the competition. The following 08/09 season, he had a brief yet productive spell with Villarreal’s reserve team, reaching the Second Division with the Yellows.
Between 2009 and 2013 Juanfran belonged to Real Madrid CF, playing for four seasons with Real Madrid Castilla. With the Whites’ second team he was proclaimed league champion in the bronze division in 11/12, achieving his second promotion to the current Liga SmartBank. In 12/13 he played 42 League games (40 in the starting-11, scoring four goals), asserting his consistency within the reserve team.
At the hand of former Malaguista, Manuel Pellegrini, Juanfran made his First Division debut with Real Madrid in 09/10, and enjoyed minutes in the Copa del Rey, which José Mourinho’s team won in 10/11.
Six years in the elite with Betis, Dépor and Leganés
Juanfran signed to Real Betis Balompié in the 13/14 season. In 14/15 he was loaned out to RC Deportivo and, at the end of that year, signed to English side, Watford. This outfit loaned him out to Deportivo, and the Galician side subsequently bought the player (2017-19). During his four years in Coruña, he played 138 league games (14 goals) in the First Division, becoming an essential player on Deportivo’s right profile.
Following his time in Riazor, he concluded his stage in the elite of Spanish football playing on loan with CD Leganés in the 18/19 campaign.
Success in Turkey
Juanfran's last three seasons have been very successful on a collective and individual level at Alanyaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig. With this team he achieved seventh place (20/21) and fifth place twice (19/20 and 21/22) in the regular league tournament, plus a Cup runner-up place (19/20).
On a personal level, he appeared in 37 league games in each of his last two seasons, consolidating himself as one of the best number '2' players in a championship with recognised clubs on the continent such as Galatasaray, Besiktas, Fenerbahçe and the current champion, Trabzonspor.
