The first Cup

Málaga CF is in Soria with five homegrown players on the squad, three of whom still haven’t made their debut in an official match with the Blue and Whites. Today, against CD Numancia, they could get their chance.

The Copa del Rey is a talisman of a competition for MCF Academy players. Malaguista team captain, Recio debuted with the first team in this competition in the 2010/11 season, and furthermore, with a victory against Hércules de Alicante (3-2) at La Rosaleda. Without doubt, the number 14 is a fine example for the young players who are currently in Soria, who may have the opportunity to debut as Malaguistas in the elite; Álex Robles, Ian Soler and Pablo Clavería.

Robles and Soler have already played minutes with the first team during the pre-season. Both put on a great performance and are regulars in Míchel’s training sessions. Even the coach himself stated in a press conference that the winger would have minutes in the match at ‘Nuevo Estadio Los Pajaritos’.

In the case of Clavería, he is practically a newcomer to the Entity. Pablo has already competed in the First and Second Divisions with his former team, Rayo Vallecano de Madrid CF, where he also took part in two Cup matches. In the short time he’s been here, he has already trained under the orders of the Malaguista first team coach, and joins his first line-up in Soria.

Although he has already competed in LaLiga Santander, this is the first Copa del Rey competition for Mula. The winger has become an important asset for Málaga CF, taking part in seven League games, but still hasn’t played in the ‘KO Tournament’.

The excitement is palpable on their faces as it resonates through to their teammates.

Good luck lads!
