“The competition is back; we need to achieve victories”

Pellicer held his first press conference of 2021 in the run-up to #AlbaceteMálaga. “We’re kicking off the year against a tough rival and we need all the players at their best level”, he cautioned.

Return of the league

“Here we are. The competition is back, and we need to achieve victories to get points. This will bring us much more peace of mind. This group has conveyed the values of hunger, humility and hard work, which is what we have to keep doing”.

Yanis Rahmani

“He’s part of the squad list and the Club, working in an impeccable manner, made the appeal. We’re also regaining Benkhemassa and Juande, as well as Caye, who was suspended. We’ve got the players who are out due to injury so hopefully Yanis will be there to help us. He’s travelling with us and we’re optimistic he’ll be available. Should this not be the case, another teammate will go out there and do their best. We’re prepared for a difficult match and are starting the new year by ending the first round. The rival, despite the standings, has had a change of coach and has won at a difficult ground against Mirandés. We need all the players at their best level”.

Alexander González

“There are certain requirements set by LaLiga and the RFEF which means he won’t be available. However, he will be there for next week’s games. We’re happy with how he’s arrived, how he’s grasped the concepts and how he’s training. Its important to take things one step at a time. He won’t be there tomorrow as the regulations don’t permit it”.

Haitam

“There’s so much talent within The Academy. He’s a player who, despite his age, has no barriers and his performance speaks for itself. Both with his national team and with Nacho’s Juvenil squad, he’s performing at a good level, which we’ve seen in day-to-day training. He’s surprising us and shown his hunger. He’s part of the squad list and, like all homegrown players, he’ll help us. We can start with two or three reserve team players and the substitutions will depend on the number of registrations. Haitam is growing, improving and we’re very happy with him. The level of training he’s shown has been a pleasant surprise. He’s doing so well, which is great”.

Josua Mejías

“He’s not part of the squad list for disciplinary reasons and has been separated from the group. Josua has been irresponsible. He’s passed the tests, he tested negative, yet there’s a code within the group and what we represent in society. We’re very sensitive to the pandemic and have to set an example. We represent the Club and the fans, and he knows he did wrong. The Club is aware that we are maintaining all the protocols and the required degree of responsibility. As is the case with all families, there are responsible and irresponsible children, and our job is to redirect this behaviour”.
