Today is the day Adrián González ends his association with Málaga Club de Fútbol. The Club wishes the very best of his luck for the future to the, up to now, first team captain.

Just over three years ago, in the hot summer of 2017, a player arrived from SD Eibar. A player who made a lasting impression on the dressing room and within the Malaguista entity. Adrián González Morales (Madrid, 1988), from the outset, earned the respect of his teammates by showing immense professionalism, prioritising the group aspect above everything.

In his first year, the most difficult sporting year in the last decade for Málaga CF, he painfully endured the relegation of the 17/18 season. The following campaign, now as one of the heavyweights in the dugout, he was the ‘pichichi’ (10 league goals) within a team that dreamed of returning to the elite. It wasn’t to be and his tears in that heart-breaking, yet unforgettable, epilogue at La Rosaleda against Dépor, were those of the entire Malaguismo, now more united than ever.

Versatile, supportive, with ‘punch’ upfront, infallible from the penalty spot…On the pitch Adrián was an indisputable player for all the coaches over his three seasons with the Blue and Whites. As first team captain, the 19/20 season was no exception in that regard. After Sadiku, he was the second highest scorer (6 goals) in LaLiga SmartBank, contributing in a big way to the team’s hard-fought permanence in the Second Division.

Off the pitch, his involvement has been absolute and his commitment to the Entity, unwavering. Adrián has been a Malaguista until the end, placing the Club above his own interests at every turn. Furthermore, his integration within the city makes him a Malagueño born in Madrid.

Adrián, you’ve left such an impression in just three years that will never be forgotten. In terms of numbers, you’ve secured TOP MCF stats in terms of official matches (103) and total goals scored (20). As a human, you have left an elegant, charismatic personal stamp, a mark of the greats.

THANK YOU so much and THANK YOU for everything, Adrián. Farewell!
