Defeat in last preseason friendly (0-2)

Málaga CF lost out to AD Alcorcón this Saturday morning at the José Burgos Quintana in Coín. Goals from Barbero and Gual led the Madrid-based rival to victory against the Blue and Whites full of homegrown players.

As usual during preseason training, Pellicer utilised numerous homegrown players for this morning’s starting line-up, featuring the first team debuts of Alberto García and Eu. The starting-11 was made up of: Dani Barrio; Ismael, Mini, Quintana, Ale Benítez; Alberto García, Ramón; Yanis, Iván Jaime, Eu; Orlando Sá.

Alcorcón, with a former homegrown player in their ranks, Escardó, had the first opportunity of the match with a shot from Boateng which Dani Barrio deflected with a degree of difficulty (13’). Yanis and Iván Jaime for Málaga tried to create play between the lines and connect with Eu on the left. As the match advanced, the Blue and Whites stretched the lines against a well-equipped Alcorcón.

However, it was the Alfareros that took the lead. A pass from Laure to Barbero at the mouth of the goal found the net (0-1, 41’). At half-time, Alcorcón maintained their narrow lead.

In the second half, there was just one change for Sergio Pellicer’s team. Gonzalo came on in place of Dani Barrio in the Blue and White goal. As in the first half, the first more or less clear chance belonged to Alcorcón, again from Boateng with a high shot (52’). Mere’s men were dangerous on various actions as they sought a second goal with insistence.

In 61’, there was a carrousel of changes for both sides. For Málaga, homegrown players Murillo, Christian, Juan Cruz, Mike and Julio joined the game. The latter, in 63’, almost beat former Blue and White keeper, Samu Casado, who had just joined play.

After the best chance for the Malaguistas, the second goal arrived for Alcorcón. Good definition from Marc Gual against Gonzalo allowed the visitors to increase their lead (0-2, 66’). Following the second water break, juvenil players Larrubia and Olmo (76’) came on. Then in the final stages, the juvenil attacking duo of Fomba - Hoyos (86’) joined play. It was precisely the Tarifa-born striker, following a clearance by Casado, who could have narrowed the gap just before the final whistle.

The last test of the preseason ended in a 0-2 defeat for a Málaga CF full of homegrown players, who competed as well as possible against a tough Alcorcón.
