Sol: “None of us played well, it was a disaster”

The Blue and White forward analysed the defeat against UDLP in La Rosaleda’s press room: “The result is what it is and it’s fair,” he explained.

Malaguista forward Fran Sol spoke to the media following the LaLiga SmartBank matchday 2 fixture against UD Las Palmas: “There was an accumulation of poor plays, we didn’t do well in any aspect of the match. Not in attack or defence, we didn’t pressure the rival and we didn’t deal with the counters. They played their game well, they played a highly effective game and converted the chances they had. It was a disaster, which we can see from the result. This is the reality. The result is what it is and it’s fair,” he stated.

Coach Pablo Guede exonerated the players and blamed himself for the defeat. Fran Sol stated: “He said he’s responsible, it’s his vision and we respect it, but the fault lies with everyone, both players and coaches, everyone who participated. None of us played well, we have to take responsibility. It’s good that this has happened now, on matchday 2, for us to realise we’re not playing well. We need to keep working hard, fix the mistakes and turn this bad start around,” he said.

Naturally, this hasn’t been the ideal start for Sol. “It’s really hard as I was so excited. I suffered a mishap in Burgos which meant I couldn’t finish the game. I didn't want to play because it would have meant that everything was going well. Yet I went out there determined to turn things around. It wasn’t the best debut,” he stated.

“I’m a positive person, like Febas, and different conclusions are drawn from defeats than from victories. Nobody likes to lose, but if you do it this way it's humbling. This is how we see things, as they are, being realistic,” he concluded.
