Press conference
Sergio Sánchez: “Javi Gracia brings a great sense of optimism”

The ‘Malaguista’ held a press conference at La Rosaleda following this morning’s training session.

The Mataró-born player talks about the first training sessions with Javi Gracia, as the new coach imposes his style on the team: “We’ve only been back to work a short time, but training has been predominantly physical.  However in the team talks, we’ve learnt the new coach’s philosophy and method of work.  He explains things really well, he’s very expressive and his way of getting to know each player and forming a strong relationship has been great from the start.  Focusing on ball work has always been paramount, and we’re working on strengthening our attacking display as well as our defence.  The coach likes his team to have a solid attack.”

Sergio Sánchez also chats about his new teammates: “I knew Luis Alberto from Sevilla FC and I’m sure he’ll do very well here.  Horta is a quality player and Rosales is very intense and manages the ball well with both feet.  Every new player is here to make a difference and support the team.”

Sergio comments on another teammate who he has known for 13 years, Carlos Kameni: “Whether he plays or not, Kameni is always focusing on the team.  He’s got a great opportunity ahead of him, I’m sure he’ll make the most of it and prove why he’s a strong member of Málaga CF.”

During this morning’s press conference, the media asked about the Club’s possible debts and how it has adapted to its current economic situation: “All the players were paid up to date before pre-season training got underway.  Despite any external difficulties, the Club has come through and I think we’re one of the few Clubs without any debts.”
