Juanmi talks about pre-season training so far: “Things are going well.  We’re focusing on demanding physical training at the moment, as well as ball work.  We’re looking at all aspects of our gameplay, predominantly focused on the ball.”
 
On a personal level, the Coín-born striker hopes to have a successful season: “This is an important year for me.  I hope I can be an important part of the team and get a place in the starting-11.  I haven’t spoken to the coach as yet as we’re concentrating on working as hard as we can at the moment, but I want to show him that he can count on me.  I feel comfortable as a second striker, on the wings or upfront, wherever the coach thinks best.  I think this will be a significant year for me, and I hope I can help the team by scoring goals.  With regards to another striker, a healthy degree of competition is always a good thing.  The Club knows whether or not we need to sign an additional striker, but we’ll try our best to show the manager he can count on the existing squad.”
 
Following Willy’s departure, Juanmi is confident in his teammate, Carlos Kameni: “It’s a great shame that Willy has left, but he made the best decision for him.  We’ve got Carlos Kameni who is a fantastic goalkeeper and always at the top of his game.”
 
The ‘Malagueño’ forward hopes the Australian pre-season trip will be a fruitful one: “We need to look at it like a normal part of pre-season training, and we’ll be as well prepared as possible and hope to perform well.  It’s going to be a long trip, but I’m sure we’ll adapt quickly.  We’ll be looking to improve as much as we can with these two matches.”
 
Finally, Juanmi talks about the importance of the Blue and Whites’ fans: “Our supporters have always been loyal to us, and behind us every step of the way.  We’ve got an amazing fan base and hope to give them a fantastic season.”
