S. Sánchez’s statements
MCF-Zaragoza
“The team is responding at home perfectly and that we have to maintain. In the away games we going to try and change the situation and we have to achieve that whatever it takes. I don’t trust the players they have; in the case of Luis García, I know he’s a very competitive player, I’ve played with him; and the coach they have, Manolo Jiménez, is someone who hates to lose and he’s going to instil that into his players. They’ll come out fighting for their lives, and in fact that’s what they are doing. And we’ll be continuing the trend that’s been happening at La Rosaleda by ‘suffocating’ the rival and scoring as soon as possible.”
A good personal moment
“I’m full of excitement, there had been a complicated stage and I wasn’t as fit as I should’ve been. I’m increasingly at ease with the rhythm of the matches, settled; I’m with the whole team in trying to reach the objective of being in European competition. I’m someone who likes to run the wing, with very physical characteristics, and I like to attack. I like to contribute in defence as well as attack.”
Belief in the team
“When something’s working, you’ve got to maintain it, and that’s what happening for us at home. We’ve got to move that to the away games too, but if we look play back the first half of the Bilbao match, we were the best at generating goal chances. The team knows what it wants, knows what it’s looking for, and we’re going to try and achieve what we have at home in the away matches. Winning two or three consecutive matches will make the difference for whichever team. Now we have some difficult games and we begin with Zaragoza. Let’s see if we get the three points and we’ll then go to Getafe with a morale boost to get the away win.”
Home matches
“You can’t explain it, because in the first half (Bilabo) if you get 0-2 or 0-3, it doesn’t matter. But this is football, it doesn’t stop, and luckily now we have the opportunity of turning it all around, it’s just around the corner and we have to take advantage of it. It’s strange when its so full-on, but the team works just as hard, with the same bite, but when you don’t find the motivations, the ongoing work remains. Let’s see if in Getafe we have a bit of luck to get this win, so that it will push us ahead of the rest.”
Baptista
“Everyone knows how Julio, apart from his sporting prowess, helps the team, it’s his character. He’s a very competitive person and he emits his aggression, definition and way of playing which really helps out the team. We hope that he’s back as soon as possible and that he can forget about injuries for a few years.”
