Sekou: “Strindholm told me I’d score when I went on”

The Malaguista striker put the finishing touch to the victory in Leganés, scoring the definitive 0-3. “I had the opportunity and I’m grateful to Pablo,” he said to the Club media.

“I’m so happy for the team and the victory, which was so important for us. On a personal level too, for returning to the pitch and scoring a goal,” he said.

The new coach has seen the player’s smile return. “Since Pablo’s arrival I’ve been able to have a conversation with him, he’s given me confidence and the opportunity. I’ve been working hard every day since January, (today) I had the opportunity and I’m very grateful,” he commented.

His goal had a special dedication for reserve team goalkeeper, Dani Strindholm, who told him he would score. “He knows I’ve suffered a great deal over this time, he always gives me a lot of encouragement and told me that I’d score a goal when I went on, that’s something you never lose. When I scored, I remembered him as he’s a real team player, he’s one of us and such a great person,” said Sekou Gassama.
