Security and dominance in a first-class test (0-0)

It was a goalless draw for Málaga CF and Real Valladolid in this afternoon’s pre-season friendly in Coín. Muñiz’s men governed possession and generated more chances than the rival.

Malaguistas and Pucelanos faced off this Friday afternoon in a friendly match at Ciudad Deportiva ‘José Burgos Quintana’ in Coín. For this match, the Costa del Sol-based side acted as visitors and debuted their new away kit with the green and purple colours of the Málaga flag.

This match was the fourth test of the summer for the Blue and Whites, the first against a LaLiga Santander rival.

The Malaguistas sought to govern possession and control the pace of play from the outset. The Blue and Whites’ defence was speedy and didn’t permit the rival any opportunities throughout the first half.

Renato Santos had the first chance to open the scoring for the Malaguistas in minute 20. The striker attempted to make the most of an error from the rival defence, but goalkeeper, Masip managed to block the shot.

During the final stage of the first half, the forward again came face to face with the rival keeper, who deflected his shot in a one-on-one. On this occasion it was keeper, Samuel who joined the game in minute 30. At half-time the score remained at 0-0.

The second half kicked off with the same tone as the first. Málaga CF dominated the ball and didn’t hesitate in creating the first opportunity. The rival goalkeeper deflected a tight header by Ignasi Miquel in minute 50’. Five minutes later, his teammate in defence, Luis Hernández also sent out a warning with a header towards the target, however the ball grazed the post.

In the 61st minute the Blue and Whites’ coach introduced 10 changes, all pitch players, to reinforce the team’s strengths. The rhythm and pressure didn’t diminish and the Malaguistas continued to frequent the opposing goal. However, despite the visitors’ dominance, the final result was 0-0.

Malaguista coach, Juan Ramón López Muñiz, selected the following players: Munir (Andrés Prieto, 45’); Rosales (Iván R., 61’), Luis Hernández (Abqar, 61’), I. Miquel (Diego Glez, 61’), Juankar (Ricca, 61’); Lacen (Iturra, 61’), Recio (Boulahroud, 61’), Harper (Mula, 61’), Ontiveros (Hicham, 61’), Adrián (Juanpi, 61’) and Renato Santos (En-Nesyri, 61’).
