Málaga Femenino shields its midfield with Míriam Diéguez

The experienced midfielder comes from UD Levante to defend the Málaga CF shield.

Miriam Diéguez (Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Barcelona, 04/05/1986) is from today a Málaga CF Femenino midfielder for the upcoming season in Liga Iberdrola. Miriam arrives at Antonio Contreras’ team from UD Levante Femenino. The experienced midfielder has had a long career in the First Division. She debuted with Sant Gabriel in 1998 until 2002, and from there made the move to RCD Espanyol, where she remained until 2010. Miriam moved to Rayo Vallecano in the 2010-11 season and was then signed to FC Barcelona, staying there until 2017 when she made the move to Levante Femenino.

Many achievements

Miriam has accumulated a large number of titles within her personal record following her experience in Liga Iberdrola. In total she has won 6 leagues – 4 with FCB, 1 with RCD Espanyol and another with Rayo – a total of 7 Copas de la Reina – 4 with FCB and 3 with Espanyol – 10 Copas de Cataluña and a Liga Catalana with Sant Gabriel.

International career

The midfielder has been a regular fixture in the Spanish national team line-up. Between 2002 and 2005 she played for the U-19s and was named best player in the semi-final and final of the U-19 European Championships of 2004. From 2005, she was called-up to the main squad until 2016. In 2013 she took part in the European Championships in Sweden.
