Málaga Club de Fútbol coach, Bernd Schuster, held a press conference analysing the team’s League debut at the Mestalla stadium, resulting in a 1-0 defeat.
Match
“The team worked very hard in this match. We were in control of Valencia who hardly created any scoring opportunities. It was a pity that they got a goal, but I’m very happy with my team. We’ve moved a step forward in what we’re trying to achieve in terms of game play, and despite the result I’m pleased with our performance.”
Start of the League season
“The beginning of the League doesn’t worry me so much, as we’ve already looked at the possibility of not scoring any points in our first three games. It’s only a possibility.”
Pawlowski
“Yes, I think he’ll be able to play against Barcelona.”
Fernando Tissone
The Argentinean-born player appeared in the mixed zone after the match, and talked about the team’s performance: “We tackled this game with a lot of intensity, but the rival got a lucky goal, which is what football is all about. We’re now focusing on Barcelona.”
“We’ve got three difficult matches at the start of the League competition, but we went out there full of confidence tonight. I think we played well, and although we didn’t have any clear chances to score, we worked hard.”
Santa Cruz
“I think it was a tough game tonight. From a tactical point of view the team played well, but we failed to convert scoring chances into goals. The team is full of young players and experience does count for a lot. If the perfect players come along that’s great, but we’re doing well.”
