Schuster: “I absolutely loved my team’s performance tonight”
Málaga CF coach, Bernd Schuster, held a press conference at La Rosaleda following tonight’s game against Villarreal CF.
The German-born manager comments: “We played the match we wanted and needed to play, and really made things difficult for Villarreal. Our boys didn’t allow the rival to impose their style of football, triangulations and attacking combinations, which prevented them from generating successful scoring chances.” Schuster believes Málaga played one of their best matches tonight at home: “We achieved two important things. Not only did we put pressure on Villarreal throughout this game, and maintain a high level of intensity, but we played very intelligent football. We kept possession well and made sure the rival stayed away from the ball as much as possible. This was definitely the most complete match we’ve played at La Rosaleda.”
“I’m thrilled as I absolutely loved my team’s performance tonight. We’ve been waiting for a match like this for some time, and little by little we’ve improved in order to completely out play a rival in the top part of the League table. It wasn’t an easy victory for us, we had some tough moments out there, but we overcame them by playing our style of football. The most important thing is to keep calm on the pitch and not let nerves kick in. Everything went to plan tonight, which is why we claimed the three points. With just a month to go until the end of the season, this win gives us peace of mind.”
