Sandro Ramírez held a press conference this Thursday, at La Rosaleda’s press room, in front of the sports media: “Yesterday’s match was far more than a game to us”, says the winning goal-scorer from #SportingMálaga.
Sporting-Málaga
“We knew it was a crucial match for us, as we were up against a direct rival. We were able to get ahead in the first half, which gives you a bit more peace of mind to affront the second half with more ball possession, which is what the coach asked of us in order to generate opportunities. We’re all delighted. There are still eight remaining, but yesterday’s match was far more than a game to us”.
Hard work and result
“In football, it’s always said defending starts with the forwards. Since the arrival of Míchel, we have been influenced a lot in our defensive work, and this was reflected in yesterday’s match. We did a fantastic job from start to finish. The team didn’t relax at any moment, and we created a few more chances to seal our victory. We suffered towards the end, but the important thing is we brought back the three points”.
Eighth goal in LaLiga
“I’m thrilled I’m expanding my scoring streak. The most important factor is that the feeling of the team was very good. We stayed tight from kick off to try and take the lead in the first half, which is what we did. I’m very pleased with my goal, but above all for the three points, which are vital to maintain a level of calm for the eight matches that remain”.
FC Barcelona, major rival
“We’re going to go out there with maximum determination. We’ll be playing in front of our fans, our people, at our home. For us, this will be a key match. We’re facing the best team in the world, but we have possibilities. The team is confident we’ll be able to achieve something positive at the weekend. This will be a special match for me as I’ll be reunited with my former teammates, who gave me everything when I moved up to the first team”.
Winning mentality on Saturday
“Defeating Barça is very difficult. You have to come out very well under pressure and have very lengthy possessions so as not to grant possession to them and make them feel comfortable. Messi? Let’s hope he has a bad day, because when he’s on form…! We’re going to go out with a winning mentality and claim the three points. If we do it, we’ll make a giant leap forward”.
