Samuel: “We’re all determined for victory on Monday”

Málaga Club de Fútbol’s Samuel Sánchez held a press conference following this morning’s training session, to analyse the team.

Samuel talks about his personal performance so far this season: “I’m so happy and grateful to have had the chance to play.  At the start of the season I never thought I’d have so many opportunities to be a part of the team.  The coach has told me to keep calm, have faith in my ability and show what I can do.  I hope I can continue to score a lot of goals.  Although I’m pleased with my performance, I feel like I’ve only given 70 per cent of myself so far, and I’m looking forward to being at my 100 per cent best.  I need to focus more on getting to the goal area and creating scoring opportunities.”

The ‘Malagueño’ midfielder is confident the team will start achieving positive results again: “Each match is a world of importance to us, and all we focus on is training as hard as we can in preparation for the next game, and gaining strength to return to winning ways.  This week is a long one, but we work on improving as much as possible in each training session, whether the match is on a Saturday or a Monday.  With regards to the pressure on the team, I’m sure we’ll soon get out of this rut and move up the League table.”

Samuel discusses the tough rival at La Rosaleda on Monday: “Real Sociedad are a quality side with some fantastic players who have a great deal of speed on the pitch.  We’ll try and impose our style of play and win the game.  We’re all determined for victory and if we work together we won’t have any problems.”

Lastly, the Blue and Whites’ player talks about this afternoon’s training-match against FC Dynamo Kiev: “We’re all looking forward to this game and learning as much as we can from it.  It’s a great incentive for us to play against major teams.”
