Samu Castillejo: “We’ll fight until the end”

Málaga CF’s Samu Castillejo held a press conference following this morning’s training session, and appealed to the ‘Malaguista’ fans “to fill the stadium to capacity on Sunday.”

The team’s morale has been given a boost following recent impressive performances against major rivals: “We held our own for 90 minutes and had opportunities to equalise, therefore morale is high.  We’re now looking forward to Sunday’s match which is very important to us.”

Málaga CF began preparations this morning for Sunday’s match (12 p.m.) against RC Deportivo: “We’re incredibly motivated and eager to fulfil our objective with excitement and enthusiasm, and are appealing to the ‘Malaguista’ fans “to fill the stadium to capacity on Sunday.”

“RC Deportivo, with Oriol upfront, tend to focus on the second play, and they’re very strong at the back which will make things tough for us.  We’ve been performing well against big teams recently and we can also make things difficult for our opponent,” says Samu, who acknowledges: “During this last stage of the League competition, rivals fighting relegation can often lead to much more hard-fought matches, but on Sunday in front of our fans and a full stadium, it will be another thing altogether.”

Castillejo doesn’t want to focus on the pressure for seventh place: “We need to concentrate on ourselves.  There is three points’ difference and three important games ahead, starting this Sunday.  It’s true that Athletic Club are doing well and have had a good run recently, but we’ll fight until the end.”
