Angeleri: “What this team is doing deserves great merit”

Málaga Club de Fútbol’s Marcos Angeleri held a press conference following this morning’s training session at the Ciudad de Málaga athletics stadium, to analyse the team and the forthcoming match against Real Club Deportivo de la Coruña.

Angeleri begins by talking about the team’s performance throughout the season: “What brought us here is hard work, sacrifice, great effort in training and giving our all in every match.  I would define what we’ve achieved up to now as hard work.  What this team is doing deserves great merit.  Although our primary objective this season was to remain in the First Division, we’re trying our best to cling on to our position in the table, and with more good results we can move closer to the team above us.  However we’re aware that we’ve got some difficult matches ahead during the remainder of the competition.”

The Argentine defender awaits a tough game against RC Deportivo: “We know it’s not going to be an easy ride.  Not just Sunday’s encounter, but the games we have from here until the end of the season.  However we’re confident we can do things right.  The team is performing well, but we must secure better results as we should have had more points.  We all hope we continue along the same lines and keep working well.”

With regards to the fight amongst other teams for seventh place, Angeleri trusts in the Blue and Whites’ possibilities: “We don’t feel under pressure.  We’re completely focused on ourselves and our upcoming match this weekend.  Everyone on the team is aspiring to hold on to this position and hopefully move closer to the rival ahead of us, who we are up against soon.  I hope we can shorten the points distance between us to maintain the level of excitement.”

The Blue and Whites’ player knows the team must improve in away games: “We could have come away with a different result against Real Madrid, and by playing as we did, the results must improve.  I hope the fans really get behind us for the final part of the League competition so we can stay strong until the end.”
