Samu Castillejo hat-trick leads to win for reserve team against Martos (2-4)
The Blue and Whites’ reserve team achieved an important 2-4 victory this afternoon against Martos CD, thanks to three goals from Samu Castillejo and another from Pedro Mérida.
Atlético Malagueño kicked off with a very determined performance, and just six minutes in, were in the lead by 0-2 thanks to Samu Castillejo; the first following a counter-attack, the second after the striker gained clearance in the area.
In the 9th minute, Martos CD got on the score board due to a Blue and Whites’ own goal following a set piece.
Atlético Malagueño maintained their dominance of the game, but it wasn’t until minute 80 and a fantastic goal from Samu Castillejo that the visitors’ lead was increased. Outwitting the rival defence with an excellent one-on-one display, Samu took possession to score his first Third Division hat-trick.
Joel’s entrance stepped up the Blue and Whites’ attack, and led to an assist for the final ‘Malaguista’ goal of the game by Pedro Mérida.
With the visitors’ victory all but sealed, Martos scored a second goal in injury time, thanks to a free kick following collision with the post.
Today’s victory was an important one for Atlético Malagueño, as they move five points clear of the fifth-placed team, and remain in the fight for the group top spot. On Saturday 12th April at 6 p.m., the Blue and Whites’ second team is taking on CD Huércal in the 34th match of the season.
