The Málaga CF coach regrets the narrow defeat against Athletic Club: “The team’s attitude showed they wanted to win throughout”.
Lack of success
“We needed to score. We had a couple of chances, at the beginning and at the end. Matches are won with goals, and it’s proving an uphill struggle for us to score. The team’s attitude showed they wanted to win throughout. We suffered quite a bit in aerial play, whereas the rival didn’t. We played our game, and the team knew what they were doing. The opportunities were there but we didn’t convert them. They took the game with a penalty. I don’t think the criteria of penalties was the same on our side. It’s the referee’s decision, and we must respect it”.
Same enthusiasm
“For any coach these numbers are poor, but we’re continuing to work in the same way and with the same level of enthusiasm. The results will come for this team. There are quality players. Although the results aren’t positive, we’re still training with the same joy as the first day, determined to turn this situation around”.
Match by match
“Since the very first day, every match has been the same and I’ve treated every match equally. The best way to approach a game is to think that each one is the last. The opportunities are there to make the most of. I’m trying to give the best of myself as coach. When the results aren’t there, the hard work is tough to see, yet when we win it’s great. We’ll try our best to return to winning ways next week”.
