Roberto: “The summary has to be positive”

The ‘wall’, who was decisive in the final stretch, spoke in the mixed zone following the match against Eibar: “Believing is non-negotiable and our commitment is there”, emphasises the goalkeeper.

Match

“We trusted a lot in securing a victory today, particularly when we took the lead at such a difficult ground and with the situation we’re in. It wasn’t to be, but in the final minutes the rival really tightened up, however we at least claimed a point”.

Changes

“We’ve had a week of changes, renewing motivation, enthusiasm, adapting to new systems and new faces, which all have to be reflected on the pitch as otherwise the changes don’t mean anything. I think we did that today”.

Decisive saves

“We know what our job is, the work of the goalkeeper, when at times there is a lot of inactivity, but you can never lose concentration for a second. Personally, I had in mind that if the rival equalised, they would go all out, which is when you have to be the most prepared. That’s how it happened, and at times like that you have to make more interventions”.

Rival

“Eibar is a team that keeps you tense throughout play, they can box you in, but it’s certainly the case that until the final minutes they didn’t really have any clear chances”.

Believing in permanency

“This is non-negotiable, without doubt. Nobody has any doubts of our commitment to staying in the elite, and we will remain committed until we achieve it, which we will”.

Positivity

“It’s important to hold on to the positives. Obviously, if we were in another situation, today’s point would have been a good one as we were playing at a difficult ground. They know very well what they’re doing here and put it into practice. Indeed, in our position, it’s left us a little short, but the summary has to be positive to continue with the good spirits for the next match”.
