Málaga CF and Granada CF drew at La Rosaleda Stadium on league matchday 4. Chupe scored both goals for Málaga, with Casadesús and Alemañ responding for the visitors.
Saturday night brought a great atmosphere in the stands, with a large number of Granada supporters making the trip. On the pitch, Sergio Pellicer stuck with the lineup that won in Las Palmas, making just one change in defence: Dani Sánchez replaced Víctor at left-back.
The opening minutes saw balance between both sides. Then, just before the quarter-hour mark, Juanpe delivered a fantastic cross to Chupe’s head, and he beat the opposing keeper with a precise angled finish inside the box (1-0, 14’).
Right after, the second arrived. A cross from the left by Joaquín found Larrubia’s head on the opposite side, and the number 10 set up the ever-present Chupe, who made no mistake from close range (2-0, 20’). A quick-fire brace for the homegrown striker.
Granada CF pulled one back as the first third of the match came to a close. Casadesús’s scuffed shot still found its way past Alfonso Herrero and into the net (2-1, 30’).
In the final stages of the first half, Pacheta’s men nearly levelled the score. In stoppage time, Faye struck the right post of the Malaguista goal. At the break, Málaga CF led 2-1.
At the restart, Málaga made a change: Gabilondo came on for Puga at right-back. Granada’s Pascual, also introduced for the second half, immediately tested Herrero’s reflexes in the 47th minute. Just two minutes later, Pascual appeared again with a shot that struck the post.
The visitors pushed for the equaliser and found it through Alemañ (2-2, 51’). The Martiricos crowd responded by cheering even louder for their team, who had seen a two-goal lead slip away.
In the 61st minute, Pellicer made a double substitution: Dotor and Lobete came on for Rafa and Joaquín. The game remained wide open, with chances for both sides and the scoreline in constant danger of changing. Málaga’s fourth substitution came in the 78th minute, with Aaron Ochoa replacing David Larrubia.
With five minutes left, Eneko Jauregi made his official debut for Málaga, coming on for two-goal hero Chupe. The score remained unchanged, ending 2-2 and sealing a share of the points.
Málaga CF have collected 8 out of a possible 12 points and remain unbeaten after four matches this season, sitting near the top of the table.
