Renewed pitch ahead of next season

The turf on the pitch at La Rosaleda stadium will be changed in order to be in the best possible conditions for the 2018/19 season.

The works got underway yesterday and it is anticipated that the entire turf from the 17/18 campaign will be removed by tomorrow, Wednesday. The company, RoyalVerd is carrying out the so-called transition task, which began last week with a selective herbicide especially for winter turf.

Yesterday and today a scarifying machine has been used, along, across and diagonally to remove the turf, so that later a seed drill machine can plant the summer seed, the ‘bermuda’. Subsequently, the ground will be covered with silica sand. In total, 60 tons of sand will be used with the topdresser.

The process continues with short and periodic irrigations at La Rosaleda, whose base is the aforementioned bermuda, which will change from a summer to winter turf around October (last year the process was undertaken before the visit by the Spanish national team to Málaga), during the traditional transition from bermuda to ‘Ray Grass’.

These works were already undertaken last month on La Rosaleda’s annexe pitch, which in a few weeks will show off its usual impeccable appearance. As from Thursday, the process will also be carried out at the Ciudad de Málaga athletics stadium, where the Málaga CF first team regularly trains.
