Condolences for Vicente ‘Pahuet’

The Club offers its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Vicente Pascual ‘Pahuet’, a CD Málaga player in the 50s who passed away yesterday. Rest in peace.

Vicente Pascual Sebastiá ‘Pahuet’, a striker with Club Deportivo Málaga in the 1954/55 season, was born on 15th May 1926 in Castellón de la Plana. At 20 years of age he debuted with CD Castellón in the First Division, and stayed with the Black and Whites for two seasons during that stage.

Between 1948 and 1951 he played for CD Tortosa, and later signed to Levante UD. From 1952 to 1954 he was part of CA Osasuna, achieving promotion with the Navarra outfit.

He subsequently signed to CD Málaga, who had just been promoted to the First Division. He debuted with the Blue and Whites on 19th September 1954 at the Metropolitano stadium against Atlético de Madrid, with the match ending in a draw (2-2).

One of Pahuet’s most memorable moments was when he scored one of the goals in the only Malaguista victory in history at Valencia CF’s stadium (0-2); and he also scored a brace in the 3-1 victory against Real Madrid on league matchday 20. He was an undisputed member of the starting line-up both with Pasarín and Chales, managing to perform in the five positions upfront, at a time of a 3-2-5 formation.

His last match wearing the Blue and White jersey was a 1-1 draw at La Rosaleda against RCD Espanyol, the last game of the 54/55 league season. He took part in 24 league matches and scored 7 goals as a Malaguista player.

When Pahuet left Martiricos he signed to Sevilla FC, where he remained for three seasons, claiming the honour of scoring the first goal in the European Cup for Sevilla. He then signed to Elche CF where he earned First Division promotion, remaining there for five years. He returned to CD Castellón in 1963, then in the Third Division, ending his footballing career with UD Alzira in the 1964/65 season.
