Recognition for Málaga Femenino ahead of the Copa de la Reina
Club Atlético Málaga, champion of the Cup tournament in the 1998/99 season, was one of the teams honoured at the opening ceremony before the Copa SM La Reina final held in Huesca.
Last weekend, Huesca's El Alcoraz hosted the final of the Copa de Su Majestad La Reina between the women's teams of FC Barcelona and Club Atlético de Madrid.
In the build-up to the match, the RFEF wanted to pay tribute to all the clubs that have won the trophy. Málaga Femenino, under its previous name of Club Atlético Málaga, won the title in the historic 98/99 season.
Manolo Hernández Navarrete, the team's then-coach and current ambassador for the club's women's section, represented the Blue and Whites and received a commemorative replica from the mayor of Huesca, Lorena Orduna.
Manolo attended the match and met Adriana Martín, a former Málaga CF Femenino player, and received a very warm welcome from the federation.
The championship title went to FC Barcelona, who defeated Atlético de Madrid 2-0 with a brace from Claudia Pina.
